A 50 year old patient with locally advanced left breast cancer was treated with radiation therapy, chemotherapy and lumpectomy.
The patient presented with lymphedema of the arm and deep vein thrombosis. Recurrence of the breast cancer was suspected in the
left supraclavicular fossa as well as the mediastinum.
The PET scan showed multiple hypermetabolic foci within the left subclavicular region, left axilla, mediastinum, left hila, both
lungs and right iliac crest.
PET showed recurrence of breast cancer in the suspected areas as well as distant metastatic disease.
